Dzongsar Tibetan traditional secondary school

 Problems

After completing primary school, children who qualify for secondary education have to travel to Derge where the closest junior school is located. Derge is a-one-day bus ride away and families have to look for a hosting family for their children which entails additional costs. A lot of children do not qualify for secondary education and the families of those who have cannot afford , or do not want to pay,  the related costs of sending their children to junior school.

It is very difficult to find adequately qualified teachers for junior schools who can teach the main subjects in both Chinese and Tibetan.

 Risks

if a junior school is not built in the region ( thereby affecting 600 school children) almost none of the children of that region will be able to understand and manage the economic development of the region in the future.

If local qualified teachers are not hired, traditional Tibetan culture will be lost forever. Tourism will inevitably develop in the region and if the young generation is unable to manage the facilities required, investors from other regions in China with a different cultrue and religion will manage the economy of the region.
